Az 1980-as születésű philadelphiai dalszerző-gitáros-énekes Kurt Vile a legutóbbi két sorlemeze, a Kolorádó-fesztiválos magyarországi koncertjén bemutatott 2018-as Bottle It In és a 2022-es (watch my moves) között is kiadott egy ötszámos EP-t Speed, Sound, Lonely KV címmel, és most ismét egy minialbum érkezik tőle: a hivatalosan EP-nek meghirdetett, de annál hosszabb, csaknem egyórás játékidejű Back To Moon Beach november 17-én jelenik meg, és az első klipje már meg is jött a sztárszínész Michael Shannon szereplésével.
Az elmúlt négy év során készült felvételekre épülő Back To Moon Beach digitális és CD-kiadásban kilencszámos anyagából Vile az egylemezes vinyl verzióra ráférő első hat szerzeményt nevezi új anyagnak (bár a Like A Wounded Bird Trying To Fly című dala tavaly Wounded Birdként már hallható volt a National Audubon Society amerikai nonprofit madárvédő szervezet For The Birds: The Birdsong Project című sztárparádés jótékonysági dalgyűjtemény-sorozatában), míg a maradék számok közt a Wilco együttes Passenger Side-jának és a Bob Dylan által is sikerre vitt Must Be Santa című karácsonyi dalnak a feldolgozása is szerepel, sőt a deluxe kétlemezes vinyl kiadáson bónuszként még az angol popénekesnő Charli XCX tavalyi Constant Repeat dalának átirata is helyet kapott (ez utóbbi két felvételen Kurt mellett általános iskolás kislányai, Awilda és Delphine Vile is énekelnek).
Az EP-n három szám is a walesi énekesnő Cate Le Bon produceri segédletével készült, köztük az első beharangozónak választott nyitódal, az Another Good Year For The Roses is, mely címével a néhai gitáros-énekes country legenda George Jones 1970-es A Good Year For The Roses slágerére utal, a klipben pedig stílszerűen Michael Shannon is szerepel, aki Jonest alakította a nagy sikerű George & Tammy tévésorozatban (sőt a videóban egy másik jeles amerikai színész, Kevin Corrigan is feltűnik, akinek van egy Big Daddy In The Sky nevű hobbizenekara Shannonnal).
