A Cure utoljára 2008-ban adott ki stúdiólemezt 4:13 Dream címmel, az együttes utolsóként publikált stúdiófelvétele pedig a Beatles-féle Hello Goodbye-nak a feldolgozása volt a 2014-es Art Of McCartney című Paul McCartney-tribute albumon, de a Budapestet legutóbb érintő 2016-os turnéjukon Robert Smith-ék két új szerzeményt is bemutattak, melyek aztán nem is jelentek meg stúdióverzióban (Step Into The Light, It Can Never Be The Same). Azóta eltelt hat év, a Cure újra fellép idén október 26-án a Budapest Arénában (ismét a Twilight Sad előzenekari társaságában), és a múlt éjszakai rigai turnényitó fellépésen két újabb kiadatlan dal került be a veterán brit együttes koncertrepertoárjába.
Robert Smith márciusban a londoni NME Awards gáláesten már elárulta, hogy a Cure párhuzamosan rögzített két „majdnem kész” új stúdióalbumából („az egyik nagyon gyászos és sötét, a másik nem”) az elsőnek Songs Of A Lost World lesz a címe, a megjelenést pedig még az őszi turnékezdés elé ígérte, de a hivatalos lemezbejelentésre azóta sem került sor. A lettországi Rigában adott első koncert főblokkját azonban egy-egy új dallal nyitották és zárták, melyek Alone és Endsong címekkel szerepeltek a setlisten. Az est másik meglepetése pedig az volt, hogy a gitáros-billentyűs Perry Bamonte az 1990-2005 közti tagsága (és a Cure 2019-es Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame-beiktatásán való megjelenése) után visszatért a régi társak mellé.
